The Guidance Counselling Service in New Cross College aims to offer a full range of learning experiences which are designed to assist students to make choices about their lives and to make transitions consequent on these choices. These choices may be categorised into three separate but interlinked areas:
A comprehensive programme is available to students consisting of CV building, interview skills, visits to colleges and universities, interest assessments, subject option talks and aptitude testing. We also have guest speakers in from time to time to further motivate the students in their career plans.
Individual and group counselling is also available to students, allowing them the opportunity to discuss problems and difficulties, make decisions, change behaviours and resolve issues in their lives. It is important to have a goal in life…. to have dreams and ideas about your future. However, it is not good for you to worry about things…. that's why it is so important to book an appointment with your Career Guidance Counsellor, to help you decide what you want to do with your life. Together we can focus on the kind of career or job or course that will help you to be happy in later life. The following presentation is a very clear description of all the routes that are open to you once you have left school. Please write down your ideas and questions and bring them with you when you go to see your Guidance Counsellor.
